We’re finally done! This pantry makeover is finished!
This beautiful beast of a room is finished and has added so much functionality and storage to this 1,000 square foot home of ours. I’ve seriously been walking by a dozen times a day to sneak a peek, and not just because that’s where the snacks are kept.
The One Room Challenge has been so fun for us to be part of and we’ve really enjoyed seeing other accounts and blogs making over their rooms. If you don’t know what the One Room Challenge is, it’s a six-week event for DIYers and designers to transform a space in their home, sponsored by Better Homes & Gardens. It’s not a competition, but more a we’re-all-in-this-together kind of journey.
When we first toured this house before we bought it, this room was a pantry and had the washer/dryer hookups, but wasn’t much more than a dumping ground for cleaning supplies. Ironically, it also looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while.
Before we get to the glorious after photos of this pantry makeover, let’s take a step back to the before:
We knew we needed a functioning laundry, because, ya know, we’ve got a baby, and that the 27-year-old water heater really needed to go (we replaced it with a tankless unit outside, which freed up SO MUCH space). Moving the fridge into the room made a huge difference in the kitchen space, and now we can say we have a butler’s pantry so we’re at least 300% fancier and call each other Jeeves on the daily.

Looks great! My pantry needs a makeover also. Getting inspired! One question about supplies.. where did I you get the dowel rod holders that hang below the laundry shelves? I need some just like that!
